This is one of those sessions that just reminds you of how privileged you are as a photographer. I have known Melissa since fourth grade, and here we are shooting their maternity photos. Our photo session took place just past the Palmiet River, a quick and scenic drive around Rooi Els, Gordon’s Bay. We revelled in the graceful golden hour light and used every blessed ray of shine it provided. At times you pause and realise again, that your camera is more than just a camera, the couple – more than clients and this evening, more than just a beautiful night for photos. This is a special moment in their story, their journey and how privileged you are to share in it, be trusted with it, and above all, never take it for granted.
I have known Angelique almost all her life. She has blossomed into a strong, beautiful woman. Working on cruise ships, she travels the world and finds adventure where ever her feet touches shore. In a very unexpected way, her mother suddenly passed away. She immediately returned to SA. This photo session was something very dear to her heart and mine. She wanted some family portraits with Skyler and her very close friend Martinique, and amazing make up artist. This was one of those shoots that reminds you of why you became a photographer and the stories you want to capture and share. The frozen moments in time that you want to bless people with, to cherish, to print, to love.
Baby Chaney was not even a month old when we had this session with her. She was such a champ! What a privilege to do these home sessions with these little humans.
Tammy couldn’t wait to go to her matric ball. The Krystal Hotel in Harbour Island, Gordon’ Bay let us explore and shoot some great portraits. Thank you Tammy for letting us capture your special moments.
Riaan surprised Pearl in the Helderberg Nature Reserve with a trail of roses (literally) and their close family, ready for the moment. His voice broke as he read her a letter he wrote. His hands shook as he tried to contain himself. It was such an honor to be a part of this beautiful and powerful moment. A memory that will forever stay with us. A story that will forever be part of their journey.
A quick drive from Gordon’s Bay and you find yourself ‘n a bliss of golden light bouncing from the ocean, softly touching the rock formations. What a joy to capture these two lovebirds. Laughter and playfulness was the tone of the afternoon.
How beautiful is a woman’s confidence? Simply unmeasurable! Erna was approached to join a modeling agency so we had some fun in front of the lens. She has never done this before, but you wouldn’t say that. She was brave, confident, and simply a joy to work with.
Jakkie and Mariaan recently blessed Gita with a gorgeous nephew, so we did a quick and relaxed lifestyle session with them in their home in Beaufort West. Baby Jake was about 2,5 months at the time, and loved the camera.
